Job summary

HCL International in Horsham, United Kingdom, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the mechanical design of precision components across multiple projects, from concept through to manufacture, in a well-established firm serving a global client base.

You will create 3D and 2D CAD designs, take designs from concept to prototyping to production, collaborate with QA, assembly and purchasing, and work closely with shop floor to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO or similar).
• Excellent communication skills; able to engage with internal teams and external clients to gather and translate requirements.
• Hands-on manufacturing process exposure is advantageous.
• Background in manufacturing with a transition into mechanical design.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop 3D and 2D CAD designs for manufacturing (using SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
• Take ownership of designs from initial concept through prototyping and into full production.
• Design precision parts and assemblies with a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and how products are manufactured.
• Provide technical input and guidance to cross-functional departments including QA, assembly, and purchasing.
• Collaborate closely with shop floor and production teams to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.
