Job summary

Pertemps Bond is seeking an experienced Mechanical Assembly Fitter in Bedford to join a leading pump manufacturer serving land drainage, flood defence and sewage sectors. You will assemble and test pump systems, following engineering drawings, BOMs and work instructions in a busy workshop.

You will contribute to continuous improvement, work to production schedules and safely operate cranes and forklifts. This is a permanent, full-time role with development opportunities and a strong team ethos.

Qualifications

• Several years' experience in Mechanical Fitter/Assembly Fitter or similar role.
• Experience in medium to heavy engineering/manufacturing environments.
• Ability to work to production schedules and deadlines.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Experience completing manufacturing and quality documentation.
• Understanding of Health & Safety in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electrical components from drawings, BOMs and work instructions.
• Strip, prepare, terminate and test electrical cables.
• Perform mechanical fitting using hand, power and pneumatic tools.
• Read engineering drawings and checklists accurately.
• Conduct dimensional checks and quality documentation.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks safely.
• Load/unload vehicles and follow production schedules.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop.
• Support continuous improvement and other projects as required.
