Job summary

Averill House Care Home in Newton Heath, Manchester, is seeking a Maintenance Officer to keep the home safe, well maintained and fully operational. This is a hands-on role working with the maintenance team to support residents' comfort and safety.

You will perform repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep across the building and grounds, ensure equipment runs safely, and coordinate with contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or a similar role.
• Good knowledge of general repairs, electrical and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive and practical approach.
• Reliable, organised and able to problem solve.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds.
• Perform repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep.
• Ensure equipment and systems are safe and functional, addressing issues promptly.
• Support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination with the team.
