Job summary

The Clancy Group is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor for a site-based role in Exeter. You will support the South West Water contract, delivering practical safety guidance to operational teams and ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards.

You will investigate incidents, promote a positive safety culture, and drive continuous improvement across the contract. A NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate and Tech IOSH progressive membership are essential, with a full

Qualifications

• Significant experience as Health & Safety Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
• Experience in utilities, water, civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
• Ability to engage with site teams and challenge unsafe behaviours.
• Excellent communicator at all organisation levels.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out site inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
• Providing practical H&S advice to operational teams and managers.
• Supporting development and delivery of H&S objectives across the contract.
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses; identifying root causes.
• Contributing H&S input into tenders, bids and project planning activities.
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and practices.
• Developing and promoting H&S initiatives; sharing best practice.
• Carrying out ABC tours to promote positive safety behaviours.
• Encouraging hazard reporting and a strong safety culture.
• Building relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders to keep safety front and centre.
