Job summary

Inara is seeking an Engineering Manager to own a platform engineering team within a high-profile government programme in the United Kingdom. This hands-on leadership role guides the build of a production-grade cloud landing zone and shapes engineering standards across the wider programme.

The team sits in the Cloud Centre of Excellence with roots in DevOps, emphasising CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of three senior platform engineers, with three junior roles currently in hire
Drive the design and delivery of a multi-cloud landing zone across AWS and Azure
Set technical direction, architecture patterns, IaC standards, container orchestration, automation approaches
Act as principal technical voice within the Cloud Centre of Excellence, providing guidance across the broader engineering community
Support other delivery teams in building and managing their own cloud infrastructure
Managing civil servant stakeholders across multiple concurrent workstreams
Mentor engineers at all levels, shaping career development and building long-term team capability
Own security and compliance standards across platform build and deployment pipelines
