Job summary

Asda is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineering Manager to join the Cloud Platform Team, leading a team of cloud engineers responsible for Azure estate operations and evolution. The role blends people leadership, technical direction and hands-on cloud engineering to deliver platform, automation, security and modernisation initiatives across the organisation.

• Proven track record leading cloud engineering teams
• Strong knowledge of Azure platform and security
• Experience with IaC and automation
• Excellent stakeholder management

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of cloud engineers, creating a high-performing engineering culture.
• Set technical direction and engineering standards across the cloud platform estate.
• Prioritise and allocate work across the team, balancing strategic initiatives, operational demands and technical debt.
• Remove delivery blockers and support engineers in delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Support recruitment, performance management and career development activities.
• Build and support Azure platform services and cloud infrastructure.
• Drive improvements to Azure Landing Zones, governance frameworks and security controls.
• Deliver and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Improve platform reliability, resilience, observability and operational efficiency.
• Partner with engineering teams and stakeholders across the organisation to enable secure and scalable cloud solutions.
