Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust invites applications from experienced, motivated candidates to join the Haematology Laboratory team at the City Site. The Associate Practitioner will provide technical support for a safe, responsive 24-hour service, primarily during night shifts.

Under supervision of Biomedical Scientists, you will perform routine and specialist procedures across Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion, contribute to quality standards, and help maintain patient safety and data

Qualifications

NVQ 3/diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in NHS and Haematology/ Coagulation/ Blood Transfusion labs preferred.
Ability to work predominantly night shifts.
Demonstrable knowledge of routine and non-routine healthcare science duties.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Perform manual, semi-automated and automated laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently.
Undertake quality control procedures per established protocols.
Participate in stock control, records and usage monitoring.
Be aware of current advances and assist in introducing new techniques.
Maintain equipment and a clean, safe working environment.
Troubleshoot and report faults to Biomedical Scientists.
Contribute to laboratory quality management system (QMS).
Communicate test results with clinicians and staff; provide instruction as needed.
