Job summary

Wye Valley NHS Trust in Hereford is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the haematology team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

You will develop your skills in haematology/oncology care, participate in MDT meetings, nurse-led clinics, and bone marrow biopsies, with support from consultants and admin staff.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) registration is required.
• Recognised advanced communication skills training is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• To function as a core member of the haematology team (in line with Improving Outcomes Guidance for haematological malignancies).
• As a member of the haematology CNS team working as a key worker for patients with a malignant or non-malignant haematological condition.
• To liaise closely with staff in the Macmillan Renton Unit regarding investigations, treatment and follow up of this client group.
• As a member of the haematology CNS team undertake nurse led review of in-patients.
• Provide level 2 psychological support to Haematology patients and when appropriate, refer patient and organise clinic appointment for patient to have psychological review with Clinical Psychologist
• Develop and ensure that a variety of modalities of information are available to patients
