Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 6) on a 12-month fixed-term basis. The role is part-time (22.5 hours per week: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) at Wirral site, with pro rata salary £39,959–£48,117 per annum.

The CNS supports patients and families from diagnosis through treatment, coordinating care and MDT involvement. The post requires advanced communication, teaching, and nursing skills, MDT collaboration, and

Qualifications

Registered General Nurse with current registration.
Recognised teaching qualification.
Advanced communication skills.
Psychological Skills Training (HNA)
Clinical diagnostics
Nurse Prescribing

Responsibilities

Actively involved in cancer target performance to ensure prompt access to diagnostics and treatment.
Be a core MDT member ensuring the patient pathway is efficient and timely.
Participate in multi-professional meetings as patient advocate and nursing voice.
Support implementation of the National cancer strategy at local level, including Holistic Needs Assessments.
Develop patient-focused education and training to support self-management of treatment consequences.
Promote person-centred care and involve patients and public in care planning.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure Quality Surveillance Programme compliance and annual reporting.
Record qualitative and quantitative data for audits and research and contribute to Macmillan Annual Report.
