Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Surgical Care Practitioner to join the gynaecology oncology surgical team at Cheltenham General Hospital. The role involves robotic, laparoscopic and open procedures, with autonomous practice and leadership across the patient pathway.

The post is permanent and part-time (19 hours/week), offering a collaborative NHS environment with development opportunities and a strong focus on evidence-based perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Masters level qualification in Surgical Care Practice.
• Current registration with NMC or HCPC.
• Experience as a Surgical Care Practitioner.
• Advanced general/laparoscopic surgical skills.
• Understanding of major haemorrhage management and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist gynaecology oncology surgical teams in the operating theatres (robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery).
• Assess, examine, investigate and diagnose patients under supervision.
• Support safe discharge and transfer of care.
• Liaise with medical, theatre, ward and clerical staff to support service provision.
• Maintain contemporaneous treatment records and submit statistics as requested.
• Ensure correct administration and custody of medicines per Trust policy.
• Coordinate pre-assessment and pre-operative investigations.
• Communicate post-operative follow up with patients.
