Job summary

JD Gyms in Leeds is seeking a dynamic gym manager to lead daily operations, drive member engagement and uphold the brand standards. You will manage a team, open/close the site, and push sales and local marketing activities to grow membership.

The role requires an inspirational leader with leisure industry experience, Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, and a track record of delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in a management position within a leisure-related industry.
• Must be passionate about customer service and be an inspirational leader.
• Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor.
• Must have experience driving sales and coordinating local marketing while managing a team.
• Experience as Assistant Manager or Fitness Manager is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operational running of the gym at all times, including opening/closing.
• Work early mornings, late weekdays, and weekends as required.
• Adhere to Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook.
• Maintain JD Gyms Brand Standard across all operations.
• Conduct regular safety checks and report defects to ensure safe facilities.
• Aim to achieve sales and membership targets and maximise secondary spend.
• Ensure cleanliness and supervise in-house cleaners to high standards.
• Maintain uniform standards and deliver outstanding member service.
• Foster a positive environment for the team and contractors.
• Undertake other reasonable duties/projects/meetings as required.

Job description

Role overview:

This role requires a team player with flair and commercial ability, and the skill, energy and determination to help drive and develop the business alongside the General Manager.

We are looking for a manager with experience of maintaining and developing the standards and reputation, whilst nurturing a growing membership base and team.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the operational running of the gym at all times. Opening and closing site when required due to operational hours of the business.
• Expectation to work early in the morning, late weekdays, and weekends.
• Ensure that all policies and procedures in both the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Responsible for adhering to and maintaining the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks. Report and chase all defects, to ensure the building and its equipment is safe to use.
• To work towards and aim to achieve all sales and membership targets that are set.
• To drive and maximise secondary spend revenue.
• To ensure the whole of the gym facility is of the highest standard of cleanliness. Maintain outside of the contract cleaning hours.
• Ensure the in-house cleaners (General Assistant) are cleaning to the highest standard.
• To ensure uniform standards are being adhered to by all team members and yourself.
• To always deliver outstanding member service.
• To help create an environment where the team and contracted personnel enjoy themselves whilst at work.
• To undertake any other reasonable duties/projects/meetings, that may be required.
• To always be an ambassador of JD Gyms.

Skills and Experience:

• Must have experience, ideally in a management position within a leisure related industry.
• Must be passionate about customer service and be an inspirational leader in the way they manage.
• Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor
• Must have experience in driving sales and helping to co-ordinate local marketing activity as well as managing a successful team.
• Ideally will have experience as an Assistant Manager helping to oversee all business areas within a leisure facility or have substantial experience as a Fitness Manager or other similar operational function
