ExtraCare is looking for a passionate Gym & Fitness Supervisor to join our award-winning charity. The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, and contribute to our mission of creating ‘better lives for older people’. This opportunity is on a Part-time, Permanent contract, based at our Head Office in Binley, Coventry..

In this key role, you’ll lead and support the delivery of wellbeing services across our locations. Working closely with Location Managers and Lifestyle Managers, you’ll ensure our gym and fitness facilities are safe, effective, and focused on improving the health of our residents. You’ll also support and guide Fitness Instructors to maintain high standards and consistency across all sites.

Role Details

• Role : Gym & Fitness Supervisor
• Location : Coventry, Head Office (travel to locations)
• Hours : 22.5hrs per week
• Salary : £21,001.50 per annum ( pro-rata £35,002.50 FTE)

Role summary

As part of ExtraCare’s Wellbeing services, you will play a key role in supporting fitness and health initiatives across multiple locations. Travel between ExtraCare locations is essential for both service delivery and training. In addition to core fitness responsibilities, the role includes elements of Corporate Accountability and Health & Safety, ensuring all activities align with ExtraCare’s policies and standards.

Guidance and coaching;

• Support the Fitness Instructors by being a point of call for advice on their practice and to facilitate quarterly meetings for all Fitness Instructors to share knowledge, contacts and good practice;
• Support Location managers and Lifestyle managers by providing guidance on the practicalities of running the gym;
• To work with finance and operations colleagues to ensure that gym income is maximised and collected efficiently;
• To support Fitness Instructors to develop and maintain good contacts with local health services such as community health, GP’s and offer the gym for rehabilitation sessions such as Stroke, Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehabilitation where possible to encourage membership and externally funded sessions;
• To lead on the standardisation across our locations of Gym membership data and pricing options, Gym access, Gym equipment inventory and servicing contracts.

Maintaining the Gym and Fitness Policy

• Remain familiar with the policy content and refer to it when providing guidance and advice to locations;
• Contribute to the process of reviewing and amending the Gym and Fitness Policy working with the Wellbeing Lead (Clinical Lead) and Wellbeing Research and Innovation Lead Manager;
• Review and standardise all documents associated with the Gym and Fitness Policy, ensuring one approach is consistent across all locations.

Promote the benefits of Gym and fitness services

• Work with the Wellbeing team to understand ExtraCare’s approach to assessing frailty;
• Work with the Wellbeing team to design Gym and Fitness interventions which promote aging well and stabilise or reduce frailty;
• Work with the Student Placement support steam to ensure that healthcare students utilise the Gym and Fitness services in their work with residents;

• Work with the Communications team to design promotional materials that educate residents on fitness, frailty and inspire membership
