Job summary

Barnsley Music Service, operated under Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, is seeking a Guitar Tutor to recruit from January 2027. The role involves teaching guitar/ukulele to whole classes of around 30 Key Stage Two children in primary schools, plus small groups and individuals across the borough.

It is a permanent, part-time post (unqualified scale 3-6) with pay during school holidays. The position requires five days per week in schools, with interviews in Barnsley.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching music in schools (primary and secondary).
• Ability to teach whole classes up to ~30 pupils and small groups.
• Availability to work five days per week and within term-time pattern.

Responsibilities

• Teach Guitar/Ukulele to whole classes in Primary Schools.
• Teach Guitar to small groups and individuals in schools across the borough.
• Work five days per week in a permanent, salaried role on Teachers' terms and conditions.
