Job summary

De La Rue is seeking a Guillotine Operator for its Debden site in Essex, reporting to the Finishing Process Lead. The role focuses on maximizing guillotine output while upholding quality standards and health and safety compliance.

The candidate will have manufacturing experience, strong numerical skills, and proficiency in guillotine cutting and finishing processes. This is a permanent position with a 24/5 shift pattern (12-hour shifts) and a starting salary of £42,965 per year, increasing after

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment operating mechanical equipment.
• Computer literate.
• Numerical ability demonstrated through experience or relevant qualifications.
• Good eyesight and attention to detail.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
• Competent in guillotine cutting and autonomous maintenance.
• Experience in finishing processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guillotines are run in a safe & proper manner
• Maximise guillotine efficiency to produce consistently high output and quality including interfacing with Bay leaders and QC to ensure quality cut standards are achieved with minimum spoilage.
• Problem solving on the guillotine, identifying technical problems, and providing solutions.
• Control and monitor associated paperwork
• Maintain maintenance schedule and consumables levels for the guillotines. I.e. blades
• Meet production targets set by management.
• Ensure a full and efficient shift changeover occurs and the correct information is communicated
• Actively support continuous improvement activities within the whole of DLR to maintain the company’s efficiency and competitiveness.
• Disciplined and able to follow SOPs to standardise working practices, be they operational or safety related

Reporting to the Finishing Process Lead, you will be required to ensure guillotine output is maximised and quality standards, including cut registration adherence, are maintained across the process whilst adhering to health and safety regulations.

Working hours

24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift

Basic Salary

£42,965 per annum. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £45,576 per annum.

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, operating mechanical equipment (Essential)
• Computer literate (Essential)
• Comfortable working with numbers demonstrated through previous experience or relevant qualifications (Essential)
• Good eyesight and attention to detail (Essential)
• Ability to demonstrate clear communication & interpersonal skills
• Competent in all aspects of guillotine cutting and autonomous maintenance
• Experience of finishing processes
