Job summary

INDYO in Batley is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a Permanent role supporting day-to-day accounting, including ledgers, VAT, and financial reporting, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

You will work with the Accountant and wider finance team, performing tasks from monthly management accounts to cash and banking, budgeting assistance, and audits, in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role
• Ideally AAT or equivalent qualification
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good communication skills, able to work effectively within a team
• Proficient in key software such as Excel and accounting systems
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts preparation and reporting
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Reconcile invoices, expenses, and financial data to ensure accuracy
• Credit control
• Sales Ledger
• Purchase ledger
• Maintain and update financial records in line with company policies
• Collaborate with other departments to gather and verify financial information
• Assist in the preparation of reports for senior management and external parties
• Participate in audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations
• Cash and banking
• Assist with Vat return
• Admin tasks as required
