Job summary

MorePeople is recruiting a Grower to lead commercial protected crops in a modern UK glasshouse. You’ll shape crop strategy, manage climate, irrigation and nutrition, and work with data-driven systems to optimise yield and quality.

You’ll collaborate with operations, technical and production teams, mentor colleagues, and drive continuous improvement. A degree in horticulture and practical protected cropping experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Commercial protected crop growing experience.
  • Soft fruit experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of climate management, irrigation and fertigation systems.
  • Experience analysing crop and environmental data.
  • Excellent observational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring colleagues within a growing environment.
  • Strong communication skills across multiple departments.
  • Proactive approach and confident decision-maker.

The Opportunity

As Grower, you'll be accountable for the performance of commercial protected crops, ensuring yield, fruit quality and plant health targets are achieved.

You'll use data, crop observations and technical expertise to make informed decisions around climate, irrigation, nutrition and crop steering, helping optimise crop performance throughout the season.

This is a highly technical position that combines practical growing expertise with strategic decision‑making. You'll also work closely with operations, technical and production teams to ensure growing programmes are delivered effectively and consistently.

No two days are the same, and you'll be trusted to make key decisions that directly impact crop performance and business success.

About You

We're looking for someone with strong technical growing expertise who enjoys taking ownership and making informed crop decisions.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Commercial protected crop growing experience.

  • Knowledge of modern protected cropping and automated growing systems.
