Description
Are you an experienced tax professional ready to step into a key group-level role? We are seeking a Group Tax Manager to support the development of corporate tax compliance procedures and strategy across our group, supporting M&A activity and the ongoing integration of new firms.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with development and implementation of corporate tax compliance procedures and strategies for the group
- Accurate preparation and submission of corporation tax returns for all group entities, including new firms acquired and disposals
- Preparation/review of year-end tax accounting, including preparation of tax packs and disclosure notes for financial statements for group and subsidiaries
- Assist with management of external auditors and colleagues to ensure efficient delivery of year-end audit procedures – group statutory audit
- Assist with valuation of QIPS and liaison with the wider finance team
- Implementation of group payment arrangement and associated procedures
- Act as a key contact with external tax advisors for compliance and ad hoc support with advisory
- Prepare UK group relief calculations and assist with accounting for the same
- Implement group relief simplified arrangements
- Implementation of quarterly balance sheet analysis and review of all corporation tax balances in the group
- Oversee monthly tax provisions and balance sheet reconciliations for all group firms
- Assist with preparation of certain transfer pricing documentation e.g., local and master files
- Oversee maintenance of key lists and trackers e.g., tax references, due and submission dates for returns, government gateway access
- Tax lead for onboarding of acquisitions, e.g., accounting period changes to HMRC and data for first computations under IFRS and in large group
- Support with tax implications of legal entity reduction, e.g., dormancy notification
- Serve as key contact for group tax queries in the business
- Assist with handling communications with HMRC
- Lead and mentor the Group Tax Assistant
- Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations
- Participate in other taxation projects arising from business needs and developments
Key Requirements
- CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified
- 4+ years’ corporation tax experience in practice; industry and private equity experience preferred but not essential
- Strong knowledge of UK tax law and tax accounting in large/complex groups
Additional Requirements
- Exposure to reorganisations; international tax experience (e.g., transfer pricing) is a bonus
- Confident using Alphatax (essential); knowledge of CCH, Xero, and Netsuite is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
