Job summary

Mattioli Woods plc is seeking an experienced tax professional to own the Group tax agenda as the in-house tax specialist. You’ll lead corporation tax compliance, VAT, digital transformation, and advise on acquisitions and restructurings.

In this standalone, senior role you will shape tax governance, manage disclosures, collaborate with HMRC and external advisers, and partner with senior finance to drive the tax strategy as the business grows through acquisitions.

Qualifications

• You will hold a CTA or ACA qualification with UK corporation tax experience within a group.
• You should have experience defending current and deferred tax disclosures in external audits.
• You will understand VAT in a partly exempt business and a partial exemption method.

Responsibilities

• Own corporation tax computations and returns for the Group and trading subsidiaries.
• Manage current and deferred tax disclosures for statutory accounts and annual reports.
• Oversee VAT position including partial exemption methodologies and annual adjustments.
• Lead tax governance: Senior Accounting Officer support, tax strategy, risk registers.
• Perform tax due diligence on acquisitions and integration post-completion.
• Collaborate with HMRC and external tax advisers; support Making Tax Digital readiness.
