Job summary

Interaction Recruitment Group is partnering with a growing business in Peterborough to recruit a Group Stock Controller. The role oversees stock across multiple warehouses, driving accuracy, efficiency and continuous improvement.

You will analyse data, optimise layouts and coordinate cross-site movements to meet demand while supporting senior management. The role blends strategic planning with hands-on operational delivery and offers a competitive salary with a performance bonus.

Qualifications

• Experience in stock control or warehouse operations.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Experience with stock management systems.
• Counterbalance forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee stock management across multiple warehouse locations.
• Analyse capacity and optimise storage layouts to maximise space and efficiency.
• Coordinate stock movements between sites to support demand and operations.
• Maintain accurate stock records and ensure stock control procedures are followed.
• Lead and support regular stocktakes, investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor and audit third-party warehouse providers for accuracy and service.
• Forecast stock requirements to support production planning and growth.
• Analyse slow-moving stock, expiry dates to minimise waste and improve rotation.
• Produce reports and analyse large data sets to support business decisions and KPI reporting.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across stock management and warehouse operations.
• Support warehouse activities during busy periods.
• Coach and support warehouse staff including mentoring the Warehouse Supervisor.
• Promote high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and compliance.

Group Stock Controller

The Opportunity

This is a highly visible role, reporting directly to the Operations & Finance Director, where you'll be responsible for overseeing stock management across multiple warehouse locations. You'll work closely with the warehouse team and senior management to ensure stock accuracy, maximise warehouse capacity and continuously improve operational performance.

This position offers the ideal blend of strategic planning and hands-on operational involvement, giving you the opportunity to shape processes, drive efficiencies and contribute to the future growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing stock across multiple warehouse locations, ensuring accuracy and availability at all times.
• Analysing warehouse capacity and optimising storage layouts to maximise space and efficiency.
• Coordinating stock movements between sites to support customer demand and operational requirements.
• Maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring company stock control procedures are consistently followed.
• Leading and supporting regular stocktakes, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
• Monitoring and auditing third-party warehouse providers to ensure stock accuracy and service standards are maintained.
• Forecasting stock requirements to support production planning and business growth.
• Analysing slow-moving stock, batch splits and expiry dates to minimise waste and improve stock rotation.
• Producing meaningful reports and analysing large data sets to support business decisions and KPI reporting.
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across stock management and warehouse operations.
• Supporting warehouse activities during busy periods when required.
• Coaching and supporting warehouse colleagues, including mentoring the Warehouse Supervisor.
• Promoting high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and operational compliance.

Essential Experience

To be successful in this role you'll have:

• Previous experience within stock control, inventory management or warehouse operations.
• A strong understanding of stock management principles and inventory control.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and analysing large volumes of data.
• Experience using stock management systems (Sage 200 experience would be advantageous but is not essential).
• Experience producing reports, analysing KPIs and presenting findings.
