Stafford College seeks a Group Security Officer to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment across its campuses. The candidate will handle security concerns, interact positively with students and visitors, and maintain order on-site. Ideal candidates should possess excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of security issues in educational settings. Working hours involve shifts with flexibility, including evenings and weekends.
37 hours a week, full year
Shift Patterns: 7.5-hour shifts based on an early, mid, and late rota. Early shifts start at 6:00 am, late shifts end at 9:00 pm.
Salary: £24,059 per annum (£12.50 per hour)

The group serves over 6,500 full-time students, approximately 2,000 adult learners, and students on higher education programs. We have over 1,500 apprentices working with over 850 employers. Our Sixth Form is known for high academic achievement.
Your main responsibility will be to help maintain a friendly, safe, orderly, and secure learning environment across both campuses. You will be a point of contact for learners regarding security and behavior issues, providing advice and guidance. You will also greet visitors, ensuring a positive first impression. Duties include patrolling college areas, interacting with learners, visitors, and staff, responding to requests, and challenging unacceptable behavior when necessary.
Ideal candidates will have an understanding of security issues in a Further Education environment, backed by practical experience, especially working with young people. You should be physically fit to patrol buildings and grounds and capable of receiving and delivering parcels. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to handle challenging behavior, use initiative, and respond decisively. A good standard of general education is desirable. Qualifications in security or customer care are useful but not essential; personal qualities and interpersonal skills are most important.
The successful applicant will work across both Newcastle and Stafford campuses, with flexible working hours, including shifts until 9 pm and occasional weekends.
