This role is based in our Warwick office on a hybrid basis.

  • Conducting safety assurance activities, audits and inspections to assess compliance and effectiveness of safety controls.
  • Supporting incident investigations, root cause analysis and the sharing of lessons learned across the organisation.
  • Developing practical safety guidance, toolkits, resources and communications that support operational teams.
  • Working closely with operational stakeholders to understand emerging risks and translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of safety management systems and business unit implementation of Group expectations.
  • Producing clear technical reports, presentations and recommendations for a range of audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of safety training, workshops and awareness initiatives.
  • Representing National Grid within industry forums and collaborating with external stakeholders to identify and share best practice.
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement by identifying new approaches, technologies and industry developments that enhance safety performance.

Experience operating within high-risk industries such as utilities, energy, construction, infrastructure or engineering.

Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.

Practical experience of construction safety management.

Experience supporting or conducting audits, inspections, investigations and assurance activities.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and develop meaningful recommendations.

Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Experience creating technical reports, presentations and safety documentation.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally as required.

  • Technical background or operational experience within electrical transmission, distribution or utility environments.
  • Experience working with safety management systems and governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of behavioural safety, human performance or operational risk management principles.
What you'll get

A competitive salary between £50,000 - £59,000 per annum– dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
