Job summary

Legal & General is seeking a Group Health & Safety Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of our Group Health & Safety function. You will provide expert advice, assurance and challenge across the organisation, leading a small specialist team and collaborating with Workplace, Property, HR, Security and Operational Resilience to embed health and safety across operations.

Qualifications

• A NEBOSH Certificate, with a NEBOSH Diploma or progress towards the qualification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, recognised standards and best practice within workplace environments.
• A sound understanding of risk assessment methods, incident investigation and corrective and preventative action management.
• Experience of leading and developing health and safety professionals across multiple sites.
• Proven experience of designing, implementing and monitoring effective health and safety management systems.
• Strong programme and change management skills, with the ability to turn requirements into practical and sustainable solutions.
• Confident communication and influencing skills, with experience of coaching and constructively challenging senior stakeholders.
• An inclusive and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to prioritise effectively, develop others and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Group Health & Safety function and ensure priorities and programmes are delivered effectively.
• Manage and develop the Health & Safety team and allocate resources to top risks.
• Provide practical, expert advice and constructive challenge to leaders and stakeholders.
• Oversee workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities and track actions to completion.
• Coordinate health and safety governance and reporting with clear analysis of risks and trends.
• Manage responses to significant incidents, investigations and learning actions.
• Lead health and safety programmes for workplace changes, openings and relocations.
• Build relationships across the organisation to strengthen ownership and embed a safety culture.
