Job description

An exciting opportunity for a Group Credit Manager has become available at our Head Office. This challenging yet rewarding role involves leading Credit Control for our group of companies, reporting to the Finance Director. The role includes overseeing credit-related activities such as managing risk, developing credit policies, and managing the team. This is an office-based role at our Head Office in Shirley, near the M42.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have prior experience working within a busy credit control team,
  • Possess strong financial understanding,
  • Be capable of problem solving,
  • Be confident in leading a team,
  • Be self-motivated and driven,
  • Have excellent communication skills, as the role involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of the company's credit function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the lead contact with our Credit Insurers, monitoring insured limits, submitting claims promptly and accurately, and assisting in renewal negotiations,
  • Organise and lead monthly meetings with senior management,
  • Provide management information on bad debts, debtor days, collections, and ad-hoc reports,
  • Manage cash collection for all Group companies,
  • Ensure departmental systems and protocols are efficient and enforced,
  • Oversee the Credit Control Department and proactively manage the team,
  • Handle credit applications and provision of PODs,
  • Make major or sensitive credit decisions,
  • Control credit limits,
  • Manage litigation, insolvency practitioners, and pursue claims,
  • Set credit policies to meet goals and manage credit notes,
  • Conduct risk assessments on existing accounts and new applicants,
  • Maintain strong relationships with Credit Control, senior management, and other departments,
  • Review sales Terms and Conditions before approval,
  • Visit customers and company sites as needed.
