National Grid in London seeks a Group Chief Accountant to oversee external reporting, technical accounting, ESG disclosures and treasury finance. You will lead a team of 20+ and partner with senior stakeholders to influence outcomes.

The role requires Chartered Accountant level expertise, strong leadership, and a track record of driving transformation within a large FTSE-listed organisation. Hybrid working and strategic impact are core features.

Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) with extensive post-qualification experience in group financial reporting and hedge accounting.
• Strong leadership with ability to engage, influence and build relationships up to board level.
• Commercially aware with ability to translate complex financial topics into business impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead external financial reporting: statutory statements and regulatory filings (IFRS, SEC).
• Provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues, including new standards and restructurings.
• Develop and oversee ESG reporting framework in line with global standards.
• Oversee treasury hedge accounting and risk mitigation, ensuring reporting accuracy.
• Engage with senior stakeholders including the Group CFO, CEO, Treasurer, Board and Audit Committee.
• Monitor regulatory developments and drive changes across the Group.
• Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes and tech-enabled transformation.
• Coordinate with the US Controller to ensure accurate US GAAP audits.
