Job summary

Distinct | B Corp in Nottingham is seeking a Group Accountant to own multiple European entities, managing month-end close, statutory accounts and the annual audit. You will gain broad exposure, drive process improvements, and contribute to accurate financial reporting across the group.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.

• UK multi-entity experience or audit/accounts prep background for move into industry.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations across entities.
• Prepare statutory accounts and VAT filings.
• Forecast cash flow and support the annual audit process.
• Identify improvements and standardise processes across the international finance team.
• Travel to Europe for audit work and related offshoring as needed.

Group Accountant | Nottingham £55,000 to £60,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Really interesting Group Accountant opportunity with an international business in Nottingham, offering plenty of autonomy, European exposure and the chance to take proper ownership of a number of entities.

It’s also just a genuinely good business to work for.

They have very low staff turnover, a clear track record of promoting from within and people tend to stay and build their careers there. We know the team well and the last two people we’ve placed into the business have both gone on to be promoted multiple times.

Just as importantly, you don’t need to be the finished article.

They’re happy to invest in someone who is ambitious, wants to step up and has most of the foundations in place. You might not have European accounting experience yet, or you may still have a couple of gaps in your experience, but this is the type of business that will help you develop them rather than expecting you to walk in knowing everything.

The role itself is a broad financial accounting position where you’ll look after several businesses across Europe, owning everything from month end and balance sheet reconciliations through to statutory accounts, VAT, cash flow forecasting and the annual audit process.

There’s more to it than simply getting the numbers out though.

They’re looking for someone who can understand what sits behind the numbers, spot issues, make recommendations and help improve and standardise processes across the international finance team.

You’ll also get exposure outside the UK, including fully expensed travel into Europe for audit work and occasional trips to the US.

It’s a good opportunity for someone who wants the scale and exposure of an international business, but still wants enough autonomy to make an impact and develop into something bigger over time.

They operate a hybrid working model, with around 50% of the week working from home. Tuesday and Wednesday are currently the core office days in Nottingham.

Your Experience...

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalentExperience across financial accounting, statutory accounts and audit
• Comfortable taking ownership and working across multiple entities
• Able to understand and analyse the numbers rather than simply produce them
• Ambitious and keen to keep developing
• European accounting experience would be useful but isn’t essential.
• Someone coming from a UK multi entity environment could work equally well, as could someone from practice with a good mix of audit and accounts preparation experience who is looking for their first move into industry.
