Job summary

Ridgeway & Co are seeking an experienced Groundworks Site Engineer for a long-term project in Cambridge. You will be responsible for setting out and engineering duties across the groundworks package, coordinating with Site Manager and subcontractors to ensure works are done to programme and safety standards.

The role offers a £300-£350 daily rate (CIS) on a 9-month contract with an immediate start; transport and laptop gear may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Site Engineer on groundworks projects.
• Strong setting-out and surveying experience.
• Good knowledge of foundations, drainage and external works.
• Confident using Total Station/GPS equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Relevant engineering or construction qualification preferred.
• Strong understanding of health & safety.
• Own laptop and setting-out equipment preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Setting out for groundworks, foundations, drainage and external works.
• Setting out levels, coordinates and datums across the site.
• Carrying out surveys and site checks.
• Using Total Station and GPS equipment.
• Reading and interpreting technical and construction drawings.
• Checking line, level and accuracy of completed works.
• Maintaining accurate site and engineering records.
• Liaising with Site Managers, groundworkers and subcontractors.
• Identifying and resolving setting-out or engineering issues.
• Monitoring works to ensure progress is maintained against programme.
• Ensuring works meet required quality and health & safety standards.
