Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Finishing Groundworker for a long-term assignment in Wallingford (OX10). Start date ASAP. You will handle kerbing, paving, drainage adjustments and final ground finishing to a high standard.

Applicants must hold a Dumper and Roller ticket and be eligible to work in the UK. This role offers ongoing work with potential extensions in a live construction environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in finishing groundworks with kerbing and edging.
• Ability to lay paving, flags and monoblock surfaces to a high standard.
• Skills in setting levels and ensuring correct gradients for final surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Kerbing and Edging: Install kerbs, edging restraints and channels with precise level control.
• Paving and Flagging: Lay slabs and block paving for driveways, patios and footpaths.
• Stoning Up and Levelling: Spread and compact sub-base materials to correct levels.
• Concrete Finishing: Pour, screed and finish concrete slabs to a smooth finish.
• Drainage Adjustments: Set manholes and gully grates to final ground levels.
• Plot Handover Prep: Clear debris and finish external areas to meet standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Kerbing and Edging: Installing concrete or stone kerbs, edging restraints, and channels to define roads, driveways, and pathways with precise level control.
• Paving and Flagging: Laying slabs, block paving, flags, and monoblock surfaces for driveways, patios, and footpaths.
• Stoning Up and Levelling: Spreading, raking, and compacting sub-base materials (like MOT Type 1) to correct levels and gradients for final surfaces.
• Concrete Finishing: Pouring, screeding, floating, and finishing concrete slabs, pads, or edgings to a smooth and durable standard.
• Drainage Adjustments: Adjusting and setting manhole covers, gully grates, and surface water channels to match final finished ground levels.
• Plot Handover Prep: Clearing debris, completing final touch-ups to external areas, and ensuring plots meet quality standards before client or inspector sign-off.
