Job summary

Fusion People are recruiting a Groundworker for a substation project in Melksham. You will perform groundwork, trenching, ducting, and concrete tasks on a live utility site with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Ideal candidates hold a National Grid Competent Person qualification and CSCS card, with CPCS/NPORS advantageous. A full UK driving license is preferred for site mobility and progression on major infrastructure works.

Qualifications

• National Grid Competent Person qualification is essential.
• Experience on National Grid, utility, or substation projects.
• CSCS Card is essential.
• CPCS/NPORS qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Excavation and trenching works for cable installations.
• Installation of ducting, drainage, and utility services.
• Concrete works including bases, foundations, and reinstatement.
• Kerbing, edging, slab laying, and finishing works.
• Assisting with excavation around live services and utility assets.
• Reading and interpreting site drawings and plans.
• Maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with regulations.
• Working closely with site supervisors, plant operators, and project teams.
• Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Job Title: Groundworker
Location: Melksham, Wiltshire
Rate: £23 – £26 per hour or up to £19.63 PAYE
Start Date: 3rd November

Job Summary: Fusion People are currently recruiting for an experienced Groundworker with a current National Grid Competent Person qualification to join a team working on a substation project in Melksham. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a major infrastructure scheme, carrying out a variety of groundwork and civil engineering duties within a live utility environment.

Key Responsibilities

• – Excavation and trenching works for cable installations
• – Installation of ducting, drainage, and utility services
• – Concrete works including bases, foundations, and reinstatement
• – Kerbing, edging, slab laying, and finishing works
• – Assisting with excavation around live services and utility assets
• – Reading and interpreting site drawings and plans
• – Maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with National Grid and site-specific procedures
• – Working closely with site supervisors, plant operators, and project teams
• – Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations

Requirements

• – Valid National Grid Competent Person qualification (essential)
• – Previous experience working on National Grid, utility, or substation projects
• – CSCS Card (essential)
• – CPCS/NPORS qualifications advantageous
• – Experience with ducting, drainage, concreting, and general civils works
• – Good understanding of health and safety requirements within high-voltage environments
• – Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• – Full UK Driving Licence preferred
