Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited is seeking a groundwater modeller to join the Water Management Consultancy's groundwater resources team in the UK. You will contribute to modelling projects, collaborate with hydrogeologists and other disciplines, and help deliver environmentally sustainable water resources solutions.

The role emphasizes developing models for water companies and regulators, with opportunities for career progression and chartership, in a hybrid UK-wide setup.

Qualifications

• Degree in science, engineering or mathematics.
• Post-graduate qualification in hydrogeology or a related subject.
• Experience as a groundwater modeller in consultancy, water company, regulator or academia.
• Experience building and updating conceptual and numerical models at regional scale.
• Understanding of UK hydrogeology and regulatory framework for water management.
• Commitment towards chartership with a professional body.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentation skills.
• Motivation to solve challenging water resources problems in a high-performing team.
• Ability to communicate at all levels for collaboration with colleagues and clients.
• Experience with MODFLOW and recharge models (4R/SWAc); coding (Python, R, Fortran, VBA) or GIS.
• Willingness to develop new approaches and digital tools.
• Keeps skills up-to-date with emerging technologies.
• Valid full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver groundwater modelling projects with hydrogeologist leads.
• Self-check work to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Tackle complex problems including data gathering, calculations and modelling.
• Collaborate with the groundwater resources team and other disciplines.
• Work across hydrogeological assessments and water resources modelling applications.
• Engage with cross-disciplinary projects in water supply, planning, resource optimisation and environmental assessment.
