Job summary

Musselburgh Racecourse is seeking a dedicated Groundsworker to join our Grounds Team on a permanent basis in Musselburgh. You will maintain racing surfaces and assist with rail movement, irrigation layout and furniture setup for race meetings.

A basic knowledge of Health and Safety, a full UK driving license, and a team-oriented approach are essential. Spraying certificates PA1/PA2a/PA6 and IO.G horticulture qualifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain, prep, renovate and repair racing surfaces.
• Assist with movement of the course running rail.
• Maintain grass and non-grass areas, including setting up furniture for race meetings.
• Assist with movement and layout of irrigation equipment.
• Operate tractors and other machinery as required.

Musselburgh Racecourse is delighted to offer an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our Grounds Team as a Groundsworker on a permanent basis, located in the heart of Musselburgh.

General Responsibilities Include

• Responsible for the maintenance, prep, renovation & repair of racing surfaces.
• Assist with the movement of the course running rail.
• Maintain and assist all grass areas and non-grass areas on site, to include setting up furniture for race meetings.
• Assist with the movement of and laying out of irrigation equipment.
• Tractor driving and operating machinery.

Essential Requirements

• Basic working knowledge of Health and Safety and a willingness to follow regulations.
• Full Clean UK Driving License
• Willingness to learn and an appetite for development. A team player.
• Spraying certificates (PA1, PA2a and PA6), a sports turf/horticulture/IOG qualification would be an advantage, but not a necessity.

References required.

Salary: Grounds person basic salary range £25k to £31k + overtime, depending on relevant skills and experience.

Hours of work: 39 hours per week, plus additional hours around racing and weekend work.
