Job summary

Together Housing Group in Halifax is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to maintain grass, hedges, shrubs, and playground areas across our communities. You will mow, edge, spray herbicide, and carry out safety checks, working with residents to keep spaces welcoming.

The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, starting salary £25,878, with LGPS pension and generous holiday entitlement. Based at Halifax depot HX1 5JD, you will contribute to safe, well-maintained outdoor spaces for residents and

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Practical experience of working in a grounds maintenance environment.
• Practical knowledge of operating Grounds Maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Experience in a customer orientated environment, able to liaise with residents.
• Good literacy and numeracy for record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Act as a point of contact for residents and provide excellent customer service.
• Carry out grass cutting with strimmers, mowers, and ride-on mowers, including playgrounds.
• Edge grassed areas and perform hedge/shrub pruning.
• Apply herbicide/pesticide as required.
• Maintain playgrounds and report hazards or issues promptly.
• Record work using manual or digital systems and communicate site issues to colleagues.
