Job summary

Together Housing is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our Blackburn team. You will perform grass mowing, hedge work, litter control and playground upkeep to ensure safe, pleasant spaces for residents and visitors.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence and practical grounds maintenance experience. The position is based at our Blackburn depot with a 37-hour week, generous LGPS pension, and holiday entitlement starting at 27 days plus bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence is essential.
• Experience working in a grounds maintenance environment.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Good literacy and numeracy for record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Mow grass using strimmers, mowers, and playground-specific machinery.
• Carry out edging, hedge trimming, and pruning.
• Apply herbicides/pesticides as required, following safety procedures.
• Clear arisings and waste from paths, beds, and play areas.
• Inspect and repair play areas and equipment, report hazards.
• Record completed work and other site issues using manual or digital systems.
