Job summary

Sanctuary Group in Ely is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to supervise ground maintenance tasks for tenanted sites. You will lead safety, risk assessments, van and equipment checks, and coordinate with an Apprentice.

Ideal candidates will have gardening machinery experience, PA1–PA6 pesticide certificates, and a full UK driving licence. The role includes a generous package with annual leave, pension, Life Assurance and wellbeing benefits.

• Pesticide application PA1–PA6 certification is essential.
• Full UK driving licence required to drive company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Carry out grounds maintenance tasks and ad hoc work requests for tenanted sites.
• Perform spraying and record-keeping in line with health and safety and supplier guidelines.
• Ensure tools and equipment are kept in good condition and maintained.
• Respond promptly to complaints and service issues with good communication.

Job description

We have an opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader also referred to as Landscape Technician Charge Hand to join our Grounds Maintenance team based in Ely. The Grounds Maintenance team is responsible for completing ground maintenance tasks to our tenanted customers in the communal areas of our schemes and sites. This role will sit within the wider Estates team and will include carrying out all grounds maintenance tasks along with ad hoc work requests as required. You will be responsible for completion of risk assessments, van checks, upkeep of equipment in line with safe working practice, litter picking, shrub pruning, grass and hedge cutting, weed spraying, removal of fly tipping and bin store clearances. You will also work closely with an Apprentice. If you have experience in a gardening role, using gardening equipment and machinery then this could be the role for you. You will be in a team of two per van but occasionally lone working will be required. The role of Grounds Maintenance Team Leader will include:

• Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and the manufacturer's guidance
• Carrying out all tasks such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
• Ensuring tools and equipment are kept in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks
• Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
• Ability to use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling
• A 'can do' attitude to work assignments
• Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 - PA6 (or equivalent) is essential
• Recent experience of working within a similar role where operating gardening machinery is essential
• This role will involve driving on company business.
