Job summary

Sanctuary Group in Ely is recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to lead a small crew, ensure safe practice, and deliver high-quality groundsworks for tenanted properties in our Ely schemes. The role runs 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, with a focus on safety, efficiency and customer service.

The post requires experience with gardening machinery, risk assessments, and driving a company vehicle (full UK licence).

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills relevant to customer service.
• Able to use computerised systems (including PDA) for scheduling and records.
• Demonstrates a positive, proactive attitude to tasks.
• Recent experience using gardening machinery is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out risk assessments and van checks.
• Maintain equipment in line with safety and legal requirements.
• Carry out grounds maintenance tasks such as pruning, grass/hedge cutting, weed spraying.
• Respond to complaints and breakdowns to meet customer expectations.

Grounds Maintenance Team Leader

Ely

£27,964 - £29,436 per year

40 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 7:00am to 3:30pm

We have an opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader also referred to as Landscape Technician Charge Hand to join our Grounds Maintenance team based in Ely. The Grounds Maintenance team is responsible for completing ground maintenance tasks to our tenanted customers in the communal areas of our schemes and sites.

This role will sit within the wider Estates team and will include carrying out all grounds maintenance tasks along with ad hoc work requests as required. You will be responsible for completion of risk assessments, van checks, upkeep of equipment in line with safe working practice, litter picking, shrub pruning, grass and hedge cutting, weed spraying, removal of fly tipping and bin store clearances. You will also work closely with an Apprentice.

If you have experience in a gardening role, using gardening equipment and machinery then this could be the role for you.You will be in a team of two per van but occasionally lone working will be required.

The role of Grounds Maintenance Team Leader will include:

• Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and the manufacturer's guidance
• Carrying out all tasks such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
• Ensuring tools and equipment are kept in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks
• Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations

Skills and experiences:

• Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
• Ability to use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling
• A 'can do' attitude to work assignments
• Recent experience of working within a similar role where operating gardening machinery is essential
• This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
