Sanctuary Group in Banbury is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to supervise a small team and coordinate the upkeep of communal grounds across sites within an hour of Banbury. The role focuses on safety, tool maintenance, and delivering presentable outdoor spaces.

The position requires NVQ3 in Horticulture or equivalent, hands-on experience with gardening machinery, and a valid UK driving licence. The company offers a competitive salary and enhanced benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervisory support to keep estates well maintained and clean.
• Operate equipment and materials safely per risk assessments and manufacturer guidance.
• Carry out hazardous tasks such as spraying, following supplier guidelines and keeping records for safety and legal compliance.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and ready for tasks.
• Respond to complaints and breakdowns to meet customer expectations.

Grounds Maintenance Team Leader

Banbury

£29,362 - £30,908 per year

40 hours per week - Monday to Friday

We are looking to recruit a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to join our Estate Services team, based in Banbury. You will work within a small team of 2 and be responsible for the maintenance of communal grounds including grass cutting, trimming hedges and weeding flower beds, and you will cover various sites within an hour of Banbury. It will be your responsibility to ensure the grounds look presentable for any visitors. You will be responsible for the maintenance of all tools and equipment.

The role of Grounds Maintenance Team Leader will include:

• Providing supervisory support in keeping estates well maintained and clean
• Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and the manufacturer’s guidance
• Carrying out all hazardous tasks such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
• Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks
• Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations

Skills and experiences:

• NVQ3 or equivalent in Horticulture or similar discipline
• Recent experience of working within a similar role where operating gardening machinery is essential
• Some experience of supervising others
• This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
