Job summary

Amey is recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Operative at NRS Harwell, Oxfordshire. In this role you will deliver high-quality grounds upkeep, lawn and hedge work, litter clearance, and seasonal duties, ensuring safe external spaces for site users and visitors.

You will operate grounds equipment, assist with logistics, and, when trained and authorised, drive a forklift to support site operations. A full UK driving licence and compliance with BPSS are required.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence.
• Grounds maintenance experience.
• Experience driving ride-on mowers and/or tractors.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team.
• Flexible, proactive approach and confidence using mobile technology to record and manage work activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality grounds maintenance, including grass and hedge cutting, border maintenance, leaf clearance, litter picking and general upkeep.
• Maintain safe, clean and professional external areas in accordance with the agreed work schedule.
• Operate vehicles, grounds maintenance machinery and equipment safely, following site and Health and Safety requirements.
• Support site logistics and material movements by operating a forklift truck when trained and authorised.
• Carry out gritting and other seasonal duties during adverse weather conditions.
• Respond promptly to customer requests, report site issues and help find practical solutions to queries or concerns.
