Job summary

Together Housing in Blackburn seeks a part-time Grounds Maintenance Operative to perform grass mowing, hedge trimming, litter picking and equipment inspections. You will ensure safe, tidy outdoor spaces for residents and visitors.

The role requires a full UK driving license, practical grounds maintenance experience and ability to operate related machinery. 7.5 hours per week, starting salary £5,175, based at the Blackburn depot.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving license required.
• Practical experience in grounds maintenance.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Experience in customer-facing environment.
• Good literacy and numeracy for record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a point of contact for residents and provide excellent customer service.
• Mow grass with strimmers and mowers, including playground areas.
• Edge grassed areas with mechanical equipment.
• Apply herbicides/pesticides when required.
• Prune hedges, shrubs and low trees using appropriate tools.
• Clear arisings from paths, drives and beds.
• Plant, seed and turf areas and maintain flower beds.
• Litter pick and clear rubbish in landscaped areas.
• Inspect play areas and carry out minor repairs.
• Record completed work and report issues with details and photos.
