Grounds Maintenance Operative

Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll provide high-quality, customer-focused estate services. This includes gardening, grounds maintenance, and external repair work across a variety of properties. You will help maintain clean, safe, and attractive neighbourhoods and support performance and customer satisfaction goals.

All successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Carry out gardening and grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, planting, weeding, and shrub care, using hand tools and horticultural machinery.
2. Perform seasonal external work such as fencing and slab repairs.
3. Use mobile technology to support field-based work and ensure safety using provided equipment.
4. Maintain a high standard of estate presentation and support neighbourhood teams in delivering excellent service.
5. Deliver professional, polite customer service and escalate enquiries where needed.
6. Monitor and report on performance and help identify improvements.
7. Adhere to health and safety procedures, including use of PPE and compliance with risk assessments and COSHH guidelines.
8. Recognise and act on safeguarding concerns in line with policies.
9. Work collaboratively and contribute to continuous service improvement.
10. Undertake other duties as required by the Supervisor.

Requirements:

1. Experience in grounds maintenance and operating relevant tools/machinery.
2. Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and conditions.
3. Good communication skills and a customer-first attitude.
4. Ability to work independently and in a team, managing time and workload effectively.
5. Basic maintenance skills and willingness to undertake training.
6. A full, clean driving licence is preferred.
7. Awareness of safeguarding, health and safety, and equality standards.

Rate of pay: £12.60 per hour
Hours of work: Days - 0900-1700 TBC
