Job description

Here at Bristol Water we have a great opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join the Estates Team.

What will you be doing?

This is a varied role, and you’ll have opportunity to carry out a range of duties including soft and hard landscaping.

You will be helping the team to deliver a large schedule of grass cutting and vegetation clearance on all Bristol Water sites, as well as reacting to all ground maintenance issues and breakdowns, and carrying out emergency repairs to grounds and landscaping assets.

As the Grounds Maintenance Operative, your location base will be out of Blagdon Depot and the daily hours will be 07:00 - 15:15 Monday - Friday.

Day to day you’ll be…

• Schedule & reactive maintenance on: Grass cutting weeds, shrubs & hedgerows, and tree maintenance (basic felling under 15” and cross cutting)
• Leaf clearance & litter picking
• Hard surface cleaning (pressure washing)
• Herbicide control
• Culverts, drains, grills/trash screens, toe drains, chambers, and valves clearance
• Fly tipping removal (basic rubbish not deleterious materials)
• Bio-diversity management (nature and conservation work)
• Access and general repairs to gates, steps, paths, roads, track, bridges etc.
• External furniture repairs and installation (bollards signage etc.)
• Help with major leaks (water distribution)
• Extreme weather control (snow clearing etc.)

What we’re looking for...

• You will need some experience and be confident with soft and hard landscaping within the industry.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential as you will need to liaise with supervisor, manager, clients, customers and other stakeholders of the business.
• A candidate who is reliable and enthusiastic about their work and enjoys physical work in all weathers.
• A full U.K driving licence.
