Job summary

Worthing Homes is seeking an Apprentice Grounds Operative to join the Grounds Team at Worthing. The role involves maintaining the appearance of our residents’ properties and supporting a high-performing team.

The successful candidate will learn horticultural skills, carry out pruning, grass cutting, hedge work, and seasonal maintenance. College attendance is required one day per week to achieve NVQ level 2 in horticulture.

Qualifications

• Be willing to learn horticultural skills and demonstrate pruning of shrubs and trees.
• Have an interest in horticulture and grounds maintenance.
• Understand Health and Safety requirements.
• Demonstrate a hard-working attitude with good workload prioritisation.
• Be committed to customer care.
• Ability to drive or working towards operating ride-on mowers.

Responsibilities

• Undertake grass cutting, shrub and border maintenance, hedge cutting, leaf clearance, litter picking, gritting and other horticultural maintenance as directed.
• Support the team leader and other colleagues in achieving daily and weekly targets.
• Attend college 1 day a week to gain NVQ level 2 horticulture qualification.
• Study for all relevant exams and submit coursework as required for the NVQ qualification.
• Ensure work areas are left clean and tidy after completion.
