Job summary

Huntingdonshire District Council is seeking a motivated individual to join our Operational Services team as a Horticulture and Grounds Maintenance Apprentice. You will learn by doing while completing a Level 2 apprenticeship, helping maintain parks, play areas and open spaces.

You will gain practical skills in grass cutting, planting, hedge maintenance and weed control, while learning to use equipment safely and travelling between depots and sites. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and a can-do approach to practical outdoor work.
• Reliable and enthusiastic about learning new horticulture skills.
• Able to follow instructions and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, play areas and open spaces to a high standard.
• Carry out grass cutting, planting, hedge and shrub maintenance, weed control and seasonal work.
• Learn to use a range of grounds maintenance tools and machinery safely.
• Complete the Level 2 Horticulture Operative apprenticeship while gaining hands-on experience.
