Job summary

Delta Housing is seeking a Grounds Maintenance and DMC Operative to provide flexible, seasonal support across the Grounds Maintenance and DMC services. Based in Chelmsford, you will maintain land, communal areas and homes to high standards, delivering right‑first‑time, cost‑effective service.

The role covers March-October Grounds Maintenance and October-March DMC operations, with a hybrid working pattern. You will need a full driving licence, be capable of basic repairs and have strong health

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality grounds maintenance services, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weed control, litter picking, planting and minor tree works; undertake mould treatments and washing to mitigate damp risks.
• Complete minor repairs and maintenance, including basic plumbing, window/door checks, fencing/gate repairs; operate, record and report in line with health and safety requirements.

Grounds Maintenance and DMC Operative

£29,645 per annum Chelmsford Permanent Full-Time. We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance/ DMC Support Operative to provide flexible, seasonal support across the Grounds Maintenance (March to October) and DMC (October to March) services, delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service across all Delta properties and partnership agreements. Ensure land, communal areas and individual homes are maintained to a high standard, meeting agreed timescales, budgets and performance targets. Adopt a flexible approach to undertake a wide range of tasks across service areas, enabling the efficient, right-first-time delivery of a cost-effective service.

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver high-quality grounds maintenance services, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weed control, litter picking, planting and minor tree works. Undertake mould treatments and washing using appropriate equipment and technology to mitigate damp risks. Carry out a range of enabling works to support customers in living safely in their homes.


• Complete minor repairs and maintenance, including basic plumbing, window and door checks, glazing measurements, insulation, decoration, and fencing/gate repairs. Operate, record and report in line with health and safety requirements, including manual handling, working at height and asbestos awareness, ensuring risk assessments are followed and unsafe practices reported.

What we are looking for

Full, current manual driving licence. Ability to undertake general horticultural work such as shrub beds and hedge trimming. Knowledge of manual handling and health and safety requirements. Ability to use own initiative to organise work to ensure delivery of efficient service whilst working safely at all times. Strong communication skills with the ability to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers. Ability to learn and undertake new skills when required.
