Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Land Services Operative (Construction) - Grade 2 Level 1 Specialist to join the Hamilton-based Grounds Maintenance Team. You will lead outdoor construction and landscaping works across parks and open spaces, installing play areas, fences, paths and landscape features with a focus on safety and quality.

The role is permanent, based in Blantyre with a 37-hour week, and carries a salary of £31,001 – £31,445.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, landscaping, grounds maintenance or a related discipline.
• Practical knowledge of outdoor construction techniques and installation works.
• Experience of operating grounds maintenance and construction-related machinery and equipment.
• A sound understanding of health and safety requirements.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support colleagues where required.
• Good communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Construction and installation of play areas using specialist skills and knowledge.
• Carrying out a range of grounds construction and improvement works, including fencing, paths, landscape features and associated infrastructure.
• Supporting the delivery of environmental improvement and landscaping projects across South Lanarkshire.
• Operating plant, machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
• Assisting with the delivery of on-the-job training and sharing practical knowledge with colleagues.
• Participating in the review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Supporting the implementation of health and safety procedures and best practice.
