Job summary

Farnborough Airport Limited is recruiting a proactive Ground Handler to join the Ground Handling team. You will deliver first-class service to passengers and crew, marshal aircraft, perform pushbacks and towing, refuel, service GSE, and assist with de-icing and baggage handling.

Role requires a UK driving licence, right to work in the UK, and the ability to work in shifts including weekends and public holidays. Training and development opportunities available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient marshalling for arriving aircraft.
  • Perform pushback, towing, and taxiing as required.
  • Refuel aircraft and monitor fuel quality.
  • Service aircraft toilets and water systems.
  • Assist with baggage handling and loading of oversize items.
  • Assist with de-icing and weather-related operations.
  • Support crew and Customer Services as needed.
  • Communicate clearly via radio and reporting systems.

Job description

Farnborough Airport Limited (FAL) is the owner and operator of Farnborough Airport (FAB), Europe’s leading business aviation airport and the birthplace of British aviation. About the role

Farnborough Airport Limited is looking to recruit a proactive Ground Handler to join the wider Ground Handling team in offering a bespoke handling service to our customers.

Within this role you will work as part of a team to provide a first-class service to passengers and crew:

  • Providing an efficient marshalling service to arriving aircraft.
  • Performing aircraft pushback and towing including manoeuvring aircraft into and out of hangars.
  • Undertaking a variety of manual handling activities including lifting and manoeuvring heavy objects and equipment in accordance with the safe principles of manual handling.
  • Carrying out aircraft refuelling and aviation fuel quality control activities.
  • Safely and efficiently servicing aircraft toilets and water supplies.
  • Performing baggage handling, ensuring the safe loading, and unloading of customer luggage which may include large and oversized items.
  • Carrying out aircraft de-icing (including working at heights) and de-icing quality control activities.
  • Assisting where needed in conditions of adverse weather and during emergency responses.
  • Providing special assistance to passengers and live animals.
  • Providing support and assistance to crew and our Customer Services team where reasonably required.
  • Clearly and concisely communicating through radio and telecommunication systems, computer devices and electronic reporting systems.
  • Carrying out pre-use equipment inspections.
  • Cleaning, inspecting, refuelling and assisting in the maintenance of Ground Service Equipment (GSE).
  • Staying up to date with and completing role related or company-wide theoretical and practical training.

  • Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Compliance and Environmental standards / legislation.
  • Aerodrome license and CAA standards.
  • Appropriate Workplace Behaviour, UK Modern Slavery and General Data Protection & Retention (GDPR) Policies.
  • Support the team with adhoc activities/tasks as reasonably requested.
About you
  • Evidence of Right to Work in the UK.
  • Full 5-year employment/educational history required (with no unaccounted-for gaps).
  • Able to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check (CRC) certificate to the required security clearance level for this role.
  • Hold a full valid UK Driving License or equivalent.
  • Flexible in approach and able to work across a variety of shift patterns (including public holidays and weekends).
  • Be able to lift passengers' bags and oversize items in excess of 20kg.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements to obtain an Airside Driving Permit.
  • Diligent in following policies and procedures.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to interpret mathematical information and perform calculations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent user of IT.
  • Pro-active, can-do attitude, with the ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience of working around aircraft, ideally in a ground handling/ramp agent capacity.
  • Previous experience of radio procedures.
  • Knowledge of airside safety.
  • LGV license or experience driving oversized vehicles.
