Job summary

Sainsbury's is seeking a Customer Delivery Driver to bring online orders directly to customers’ doors, delivering with energy, warmth and care while upholding our commitment to customer-first service.

You’ll drive a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van, perform essential safety checks, follow planned routes, and handle occasional lifting or steps as required. This role supports store operations when not delivering, in a fast-paced environment across diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Friendly and welcoming with enthusiasm for helping customers
• Comfortable driving a larger vehicle safely in different locations
• Able to work in a fast-paced, physical environment moving containers weighing up to 15kg
• Able to use initiative and make safe decisions while on the road
• Enjoys both working independently and as part of the wider store team
• Flexible and willing to work across the store and take on new challenges
• Open to learning and using route/delivery technology

Responsibilities

• Being the face of Sainsbury’s at every doorstep you deliver to, making customers feel valued
• Driving a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries on time and in good condition
• Carrying out vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and that customer orders are secure
• Following planned routes and driving safely in various locations and conditions
• Moving containers up to 15kg and assisting with steps or longer walks from the van as needed
• Communicating clearly with customers about delays or changes to orders
• Providing support across the store when not delivering
