Job summary

Octopus Energy is seeking a Grid Analyst to map, model and optimise electricity grids across markets. You will perform techno-economic modelling, evaluate non-wire solutions, and support investments from the grid to IRP level. The role asks for strong energy systems knowledge and advanced power flow tooling.

You will work with DERs and high voltage grids, produce actionable insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform commercial decisions and energy transition goals.

Qualifications

• Strong background in energy systems and electrical engineering or power system modelling.
• Advanced power flow modelling expertise with PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory or PandaPower.
• Knowledge of linear/economic modelling (e.g. Plexos) is a plus.
• Experience with DERs, medium/high voltage grids and utility-scale projects.
• Ability to generate insights from large energy data sets.
• Proactive, curious and capable of starting from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Grid assessment: map, analyse and model grids across markets.
• Techno-economic modelling to determine optimal resource mix against objectives.
• Assess solutions for grid quality and stability with focus on non-wire options (flexibility/BESS).
• Develop grid investment plans and Integrated Resource Plans for technical sign-off.
• Analyse grid constraints and provide insights on connection queues.
• Explore opportunities in commercial modelling.
