Job summary

Wigan Council seeks a Team Leader for the Makerfield Way Depot to oversee grounds maintenance operations in the borough. You will lead a team of operatives, drive productivity, ensure quality and H&S compliance, and contribute to service planning.

You will supervise day-to-day tasks, manage workloads, and maintain records while collaborating with the Greenspaces supervisors. This role requires the ability to work independently and in a team, with strong communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team in grounds maintenance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements in public spaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of grounds maintenance operatives to maximise output and efficiency.
• Ensure quality standards and health & safety compliance.
• Plan work, prioritise workloads, allocate tasks and resources.
• Maintain operational records and documentation.
• Undertake driving duties and transport staff/machinery/materials.
