Job summary

Kirklees Council is seeking a Greenspace & Environment Enforcement Officer to join the Greenspace Action Team in Huddersfield. This permanent role tackles environmental anti-social behaviour and engages with residents and partners to drive positive behavioural change.

You will issue warnings and penalties when needed, support legal proceedings, and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, with a full driving licence required. Salary £30,515–£32,046.

Qualifications

• You’ll be confident, resilient and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
• Understanding of environmental anti-social behaviour and its impact on communities.
• Ability to deal calmly with challenging situations.
• Strong written and IT skills to produce accurate notes, reports and statements.
• Confidence to speak to individuals and groups about environmental responsibilities.
• A sound understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to pass a Kirklees Council driving assessment.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible presence across Kirklees to deter and address environmental anti-social behaviour.
• Engage with individuals, communities and groups to promote environmental responsibility and improvement.
• Investigate complaints and concerns, gather evidence and prepare case files for enforcement.
• Issue warnings, notices and fixed penalties in line with legislation and policy.
• Support legal proceedings, including preparing statements and attending court.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver environmental objectives.
