Job summary

INEOS FPS is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to deliver safety studies and guidance at the Grangemouth site. You will lead local PHAs, LO PAs, and Safety Engineering Reviews while developing QRAs for COMAH submissions and monitoring KPI trends to drive safety improvements.

You will mentor engineers, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain process safety information within the site network, contributing to a culture of proactive risk management.

Qualifications

• Chartered chemical engineer with 5+ years in petrochemical/oil & gas or related operations.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders and 3rd party specialists.
• Strong technical skills in process safety.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret complex systems and regulations.
• Knowledge of risk assessment tools and interpretation of results.
• Understanding of human factors influence on process safety and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver process safety studies to meet INEOS FPS demands and regulatory requirements.
• Provide process safety technical leadership to FPS South assets (Kinneil, RLPG/LPG, Dalmeny, Hound Point).
• Develop and implement management strategies to close regulatory/compliance gaps.
• Lead PHAs and assign resources to chair and document reviews.
• Lead LO PA reviews and Safety Engineering Reviews as needed.
• Support development/maintenance of QRAs for COMAH submissions.
• Monitor leading/lagging KPIs and drive safety improvement actions.
• Audit modification system compliance and drive improvements.
• Coach engineers to integrate process safety in design and operations.
• Update local COMAH reports and contribute to site COMAH establishment reports.
• Ensure process safety skills coverage across the network and identify training gaps.
• Lead root cause investigations for process safety incidents and recommend actions.
• Review process safety information and identify improvement opportunities.
