Unlock your passions at Scarsdale Vets Equine Centre

Scarsdale Vets are a group of Veterinary practices in the Midlands, with eleven small animal practices across Derby & Burton, a state of the art small animal hospital and a dedicated team of Farm and Equine vets serving the East Midlands region. You will be based at our Farm and Equine practice in Markeaton. We are close to M1, have good rail links and are less than 30 minutes away from East Midlands Airport.

We have a supportive team of 8 Vets, 6 members of nursing team including 1 qualified RVN, 2 trainees, 1 vet tech trainee, 1 team manager and 1 equine care assistant. Everyone is super friendly and work well together. We have regular socials and are a happy friendly team. Within the team, we have certificate holders in Equine Practice, Equine Dentistry, Equine Soft Tissue Surgery and a CertAVP.

We have a fantastic clinic with inpatient and surgical facilities. 16 stables plus paddocks for turnout, indoor and outdoor menage and designated trot up area, stocks and examination room, ultrasound, radiography, laser, endoscopy, gastroscopy and in house laboratory.

Step into a supportive start

40 hours per week. You will be part of our on call and weekend rotas. The rota is 1 in 6 currently with new grads initially shadowing and then as their skills develop taking the lead on call with rota'd support from an experienced vet until they feel fully confident. Early finish following your night on call. After working a weekend, you will have Monday afternoon off and following Friday off on lieu.

You will be supported by our very friendly team of vets and nurses who have extensive experience in supporting new graduates. One of our Vets is completing her second year of the graduate academy, and two others have stayed on with us following the graduate academy. Our Vets have a wide range of experience and skills, allowing our new grads to have plenty of support from both more experienced vets and also other more recent graduates with valuable skills that they are all keen to share. Our aim is for our new grads to integrate into our team and develop client bonds from the outset whilst developing their skills at their own pace.
